The Brace of Pheasants is a much-loved historic pub (16th Century) with rooms nestled in the heart of Dorset’s picturesque countryside.
The award-winning thatched Inn (originally the village Blacksmith’s forge & cottages & now Grade II listed) is a welcoming space steeped in character, blending old-world charm with modern comfort – if the walls could talk, we are sure they could tell some great stories! Cosy up in front of the fire in the winter & enjoy a drink in our beautiful garden in the summer, either way, a beautiful setting, great food, drink & company blend for the perfect visit at Brace of Pheasants.
Matt & Shannon Gernetzky took over in late 2021 when they moved to the Dorset Countryside from their native South Africa. In his 20s Matt time working in hospitality in the UK which ignited a dream to one day own a ‘Proper British Pub’. When they made the decision to relocate to the UK with their young son, it was chance to turn the dream into reality!v
The pub is the heart of the village & Landlord Matt ensures warm welcome awaits locals & visitors alike. He is passionate about great food, great drinks & genuine hospitality – exactly what you will find at the Brace (as it is affectionately known by locals).
Matt leads a small local team who always welcome you with a big smile & are on hand toensure you have a memorable experience, whatever the occasion. Be it tucking into a hearty meal, spending time with friends or celebrating a special occasion (or the every day!) with a glass of something from our well-stocked bar.

RATES
- £139.00 per room per night
- Single occupancy is £129 per night
- Rates are inclusive of breakfast – we offer a hearty Full English Breakfast or lighter Yoghurt & Granola, or both to really set you up for the day!
- Pets are allowed in a select number Garden Rooms and are charged at £15 per pet per night.
- Extra mattresses for children under 10 years are available at £15 per night
- We do not take a deposit, but we do keep card details on file to secure your booking. These are kept secure on our system & are only used in case of a no-show or a cancellation in the final 48 hours (you may cancel up to 48 hours before arrival without being charged). You settle your whole bill with us when you check out.
- Check in is guaranteed from 4pm, however, rooms are often ready from around 2.30pm (not guaranteed) so you are welcome to come earlier. If your room isn’t quite ready, you are welcome to join us for a drink in the bar whilst you wait. Check out is at 10am.
